2011 April 27 - Into the Christchurch Red Zone.

Check it out

“Photos by Ross Becker, Apr 27, 2011 – Finally the Director of Civil Defence agreed that I could go into the red zone accompanied by a USAR member to record in pictures what I saw. Here is a selection of them.”

Wow!

Time for an update...d site

I have finally brought the journal over from the simpsons sub domain onto this as a combined site – and to mark the occasion I redesigned the whole site too. Ah the simple pleasures of loving IT and the web :)

Hope you like it. It is a clean design – but under the hood it resizes for the screen size you are looking at it with… realising it is best to design for different browser sizes rather than just leave it up to the browser.

About Beau

Age: Born approx 1 April 2009
Breed: Miniature Pinscher (Zwergpinscher, Min Pin) a “big dog in a little dog’s body”.

The Min Pin (as it is affectionately called) originated in Germany and has been documented since the early 1800s, more formally so since 1895 with the formation of the German Pinscher Club. Evidence of the breed dates to the 15th Century and it was formerly known as the Red Pinscher that refers to the “small red deer”, found in the German forest. They were originally bred as stable dogs to eradicate rats and mice.

AVERAGE SIZE & WEIGHT: 25.5cm to 30.5cm & 2.5kg to 4kg

This is a proud and spirited little dog – all terrier and certainly no “toy” – they are a loyal and intelligent companion. They are fearless, alert and make an excellent watchdog.

Puppy Power

Beau has taken over the house. She is absolutely tiny but controls the house from the three of us to the cat. Note to self: do not get puppy during winter – walking around the yard, pitch black and raining is not the most fun. But she is very cool and we are hanging out to have the vaccinations over so we can take her out and about (plus toilet training obviously!). The cat door is too high up for her at the moment so that is good, but come better with the toilet then maybe we’ll need to look at some DIY. And then she will be able to carry on the chase and chase the cat out the door and around the yard.

Sausage (the cat) is handling the puppy a lot better than we expected which is good. Now if only our puppy whined when needing to go outside like supposedly the others in the litter did (or did we fall for a sales person’s trick of the trade?).
