New Start

Today I started a new job at Meridian Energy. Yip I have left the Chch City Council and my run of local authority jobs and am now in the private sector (state owned so not sure it really counts). Why the move? Time to move on really. And this new job gives me the opportunity to move into a Systems Analyst role and hopefully be involved more with the systems than the politics.

So what was day one like? Damn full on to be totally honest. I am very pleased my new boss let me come home early! A whole new bunch of people, processes, language, and systems to learn. A challenge that I am really looking forward to – after a decent nights sleep that is.

It is only day one, and all jobs have their ups and downs, but I am very impressed with the company’s respect of their employees. I knew the Council had a serious problem here, but more so than now I have seen elsewhere.
