Check it out… joss.flexedesign.com. Very cool even if we do say so ourselves.

Hello Silly Sausage

We say hello to Silly Sausage, and sadly good by to Titch.

Titch was run over and had to be put down a couple of weekends ago. He now has a lovely spot in the garden.

And yesterday we came home with Silly Sausage, named from a character from Bad Jelly the Witch. And he is living up to his name, so that will learn us!

A new section?

I have a new website smoke.flexedesign.com for IT type things as a knowledge base for myself so I can remember how I once did something. Thinking maybe web, maybe Maximo and systems like that from work. Who knows if it will happen, but I’ve made a site so that is a start.

The stuff I post there you will be able to find else where on the web and probably in a better form but this will be the stuff I thought useful to remember for another day. This is a good place for it so I can get it from home or work, and someone else may find something useful.

Long time between beers

This year is shooting by and I see we are in April already. Crazy. We have been busy with this and that – too much stuff to think about since it has been so long since I have written here.

We paved our BBQ area last month – about 1.5ton worth of pavers and the area is not as large as one would think. It was a fun project – as with all things you have never done before, once you have completed you have the skills and knowledge to actually start. But we are pleased with what we did and with our new outdoor furniture it looks good – just in time for winter to get little use.

Joss is getting into felting, so I can sense a need for me to redesign her website. She is experimenting using both fleece and knitting wool. Joss and Justine are of to Melbourne soon so they both are looking forward to that.

Later days.

Dark Horse

We are just back from a week in Golden Bay. After Xmas, Justine came for a couple of days and we had a great time with Grant and Nicole joining us. In typical Joss and Justine style we drank cocktails for something different. Justine was stoked Brook chose her to put him to bed and read a story both nights.

Then it was time for my parents and Duncan and Nicola to visit. Xmas Day take 2! It was good to finally truly meet Nic – even with car troubles that extended their stay 2 days longer, Nic and Dunc are still together so the family cannot have been too scary. Brook loved having the extras to entertain him.

With Dunc & Nic’s stay extended they needed a bed so we left to Golden Bay a day earlier than planned. Brook travelled well (always a bonus!) and we did not see many stupid drivers on the roads – there was a lot of cops which was good.

We had a lovely time in the Bay – having 3 Xmas Days is not so good on the waistline though! It was nice chilling out at Joss’s parents place and we had a couple of nice walks. Brook got to drive the tractor and I rode the motorbike over the hills shifting the sheep and lambs (after Joss separated them) – a couple of true farmers… NOT! Joss has done the time so can call herself one, Brook and I were just townies playing on the farm.

Unfortunately Mum & Dad’s (Cam’s) house was broken into whilst they were here and they cut their holiday short to go back home. Luckily nothing was actually stolen apparently – just everything was thrown around making a huge mess.

Merry Xmas

Another Xmas has come and gone. This year shot by so fast. We have had a great Christmas Day, a quiet one this year. We got Brook a trampoline hoping that will burn off a lot of energy whilst school is out. Threading on the safety net at 10pm – dark brown lace, black netting – not fun. But Brook loves it and has been working on a “routine” for when his grandparents come.

Paradise Ducks

Not too sure I want to say too much about a certain paradise duck other than it ended up with me falling off my bike and skidding along the footpath ripping holes in both my clothing and skin.

Time for duck shooting season!

Weekend away

After a couple of weeks with a tummy bug ripping through the household, busy times for both Joss and I at work, Joss’s aunty Rose’s funeral, my parents visiting, and a work trip for me to Oz… it was a time for a bit of quiet family time away so we booked in for a weekend at Akaroa.

Our usual house was booked, so we tried another one. This one was up the hill on the entrance into town and had a great view over the bay. The weather was fantastic – although 2 pints on a hot afternoon make the trek back up the hill a bit of an effort.

Akaroa was not as busy as we expected, but that was good too. This trip we drove straight to Akaroa, no stopping at Little River etc, which saved these places for the trip home today. Normally we are home by lunch time, but it was very relaxing to come home slowly, sticking around in Akaroa for lunch, then stopping off at a couple of the bays as we came home. Rock on Xmas holidays – I want more!
