Potty training is not fun!

We have started that wonderful stage as parents of toilet training Brook. Brook is definitely old enough and aware enough but is not being overly helpful at all. Normally it is we notice the signs, ask him if he needs to go – which he point blankly says “NO!”. So we take him to the toilet where he sits and natters away doing anything but going to the toilet. So a fresh set of nappies and he is off only to pooh about 10 minutes later! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Brook went to his first movie today – Shrek 2. He really enjoyed it and managed to keep reasonable quiet throughout the whole movie. He was a little startled at the start with the share volume of the thing.

I went for my first bike ride through the forest this morning for a long time. It was a lot of fun and I did not slow the other riders down too much. My old bike survived too which is reasonable surprising. I did fell some knocking in the crank which is not a good sign though. Having just replaced the cones and bearings on my front wheel I guess the bike is showing it’s age and probably more so the lack of maintenance.

Joss and Brook had a good trip to Golden Bay. Brook travelled up there well, but not so on the way home. Joss felt a little strange sleeping at her Nana’s old house again now that her parents are living there having just moved off the farm. I thing they are all pleased that it is a temporary home whilst they build a new home.

Joss had a good visit to the eye specialist this week too. Last years surgery has gone well, although they could not remove all the old eye jelly since it was around the retina and that is causing some irritation for Joss as the pulling on the retina can hurt and also cause bright spots. The good news is that it has really knocked back the growth of the problems.

We have settled into the new home well and enjoy not having the old neighbours.
Later, Cam.

Home Alone

Joss and Brook are off to Golden Bay to visit Joss’s parents who have recently shifted house also. This is the first time they have shifted house in 30 odd years so was quite a big thing. Anyway, with kindy holidays, Joss thought it was a good time to head north and check out her new “home base”.

New House

Hello All,
We moved into our new house today. It was a very long and tiring day but we got everything here and in one piece too. Joss’s parents and my Mum came to help which was great. We hired a truck and also used Ross’s ute.

The Boss

I am currently acting team leader whilst my boss is away. So far this has not meant anything different – at least very little different which is good. I carry around my cell phone 24/7 which is not much different than normal but I am worried about being called about a system I know nothing about.

I kind of am hanging out for something manager-ish to get the feel for what it is like. The good thing is that my work mates are cool with the idea – they are probably pleased it is not them! It makes sense having a nominated lead in case something comes up and we are all fine with that.

Another week to go… I wonder what will happen?

Merry Christmas!

From us all, we hope you had a great Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year. We certainly had a great time. Duncan (Cam’s bother) flew in late on the 23rd. He and Brook get on like a house on fire.

The 24th was a scorcher day. We spent most of it out in the back yard having water fights, playing in Brook’s pool, and kicking / throwing around Brook’s ball. Surprisingly Brook prefers to be chased with the water sprayer than squirting other people – except when he is grumpy, and then he likes to do the squirting, not be squirted. The baseball set Matt & Co gave Brook (foam thankfully) has been great. Brook does seem to like throwing the ball into the garden instead of to the person with the bat, but it is all fun. A great BBQ and wine finished the day off well.

Christmas day started off with the cutest thing. Brook got up (around 6:30) and saw all the presents under the tree. He was ecstatic and could not wait to get into them, but we told him he had to wait until Duncan was up and that he was more than welcome to go knock on his door to get him up. So there is Brook banging on the door going “Duncan, Duncan” [you have to say that in a slow whinny manner to get the full effect]. After raising Duncan from the dead, we all had a blast opening the gifts (most of which were Brook’s). We had to actually encourage him to open the next present as he was dead keen to be playing with whatever he had just opened. Brook’s loot list was very impressive (thanks everyone and Santa!). He went crazy when he saw he had gotten a track set for his Thomas the Tank Engine train collection. Whilst this seems to be a favourite, he uses all his new toys when playing with it. And the new books are a god send for Joss and I, as we have read the other to him a million times over already.

After a fab lunch, we went to the beach for the afternoon. Brook is a little weary of the water, but enjoyed throwing everything into the sea. We spent a couple of hours throwing around the Frisbee and ball. Sun screen lotion is a great invention!

We then quickly moved onto Joan’s (Cam’s aunt) place for a BBQ tea. Getting together with the wider family is just what Xmas is about. Not quite the size of the family gatherings of old, but that is probably a good thing at the end of a long hot day. Again Brook charmed the lot, even to the point Andrea thought she wanted a kid of her own! I did not see her volunteer to change his nappies though, so think it was short lived.

Now that Duncan has left again (headed to Invy to catch up with Mum, Dad, and Jenny for a second Christmas), Brook has been asking “Where’s Duncan?” so he is clearly missing him. We got a heap of photos (off Dunc’s digital camera, so I will endeavour to post a few for you all).

Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
Love Cam, Joss, & Brook.

Where is Joss?

The answer is Sydney with her Mum spending all my hard earned cash!

Well the Sydney part is true – but Joss will be spending more of her hard earned cash than mine, hopefully :). It sounds like they are really enjoying themselves. They were at the Zoo yesterday and are looking around the CBD (shops) today. Will have to get Joss to tell you all about it when she is back.

Brook and I are enjoying our time together (mostly). We have watched all of Brook’s videos about 100 times over. Brook starts the day by saying “Bob Bob Bob” and does not stop until I relent and put on Bob The Builder. We are both tired after all this (Brook is sleeping now which will mean I cannot put him to bed early like I have been doing). It takes a lot of work to chase him around the garden with the hose all afternoon.

In other news we have finished work on our Kitchen. Sorry we don’t have a digital camera and not got around to borrowing one yet. The walls are yellow and it looks great, a lot warmer and lighter than with the blue it was painted.

I’ve added some new photos so check them out…

Later,
Cam.
