Hello Again

With summer knocking on the door, we seem to be picking up the pace again. This winter has hit us with a few nasty colds and flu’s. Pay back from last winter probably.

Life has been busy, I have been in Melbourne on a SAP Plant Maintenance conference – computer systems geek stuff. Very intense few days with little rest time. Whilst I did get into the CBD one evening can you believe I could not find anything to buy in a shop with about 5 levels and covered half of two blocks. A little harsh because I was looking for a couple of items in particular, but hopefully Joss has more luck when she goes to Sydney with her Mum at the end of the month. They both are looking forward to getting away for the weekend. Joss will actually get two breaks away from Brook (and me) this month as I am taking Brook to Invercargill beforehand. Since Joss has not had more than a couple of nights without Brook in the last two and a bit years, they will both be well deserved breaks.

We have been busy prepping the kitchen to paint it this coming Labour weekend. From a light blue to a bright yellow will be a bit of a shock to the system, but will look great (fingers crossed). We may have to flip a coin to decide if we tackle Brook’s room or finish the outside next. With Brook finding the joy of drawing, it might be best to wait a wee while before painting his walls. He is a keen sander too, a little too keen in fact and has kindly sanded on of our newly painted kitchen cupboard doors. Too much “Bob the Builder” I think. Which by the way he can almost totally recite the video we have. Time to get another one I think as Joss and I can probably too!

I’d like to promise this summer time burst of activity will mean I scan all the new photos and keep this blog up to date, but you know me better than that.

Kindergarten

Hi All,
Brook is now enrolled in kindergarten! Well he is on the waiting list. It seems so grown up. He’ll start when there is a space after he is 2 years 10 months, which is a wee way off. Not a bad thing when you look at the shiner he is sporting at the moment.

We are planning on a quiet weekend as the flu bug has is doing the rounds, knocking everyone back a bit.

Catch you later,
Cam

Photos!

Hi guys,
Yes it has been ages and we have no excuses. But we bribe you with photos. Check them out here.

The year seems to be zooming by and we are managing to get less of our hobbies like this site done as there are always things on. Us? we are all cool. Brook is growing up fast and is defiantly in the “terrible twos phase” testing his limits, but that is life. He and Joss are in Golden Bay at the moment. Not sure if that means they are on holiday or I am. Joss is looking at some study next year. She thinks she’ll start with a paper a year working towards a resource management degree.

Not much else to say.

Long Time, No Updates

Hi All,
Sorry for the long gap between updates. It is not as if we have not been up to much, quite the opposite actually, but you will all get bored if we go into the details. We’ve done some more painting of the house and gone on some great walks in the weekend.

Anyway it is Joss’s Birthday today and I am home sick – yes I actually have a cold, not just pulling a sicky. Brook got the cold first and it was inevitable that we would all get it too. Brook believes the whole world is a big hanky to wipe his runny nose on. Lovely.

Hope you all have plans for Queens Birthday weekend. We’ve got family in town (first Cam’s then Joss’s) so we will be busy. Hopefully Joss and I will be able to sneak off to the odd movie with baby sitters left right and centre.

Those of you keen on the Arthurs pass weekend, I believe Matt is looking at setting a date. We’ll let you know.

Cam, Joss the Birthday Girl, and Brook the Reader Rabbit master.

Hello

We hope you all had a great Easter & ANZAC break. We had a good trip down to Invercargill. Brook travelled very well and stopping for the night in Timaru was a great help. In Invy we got to trip around to many of the great sites and walking spots like at Bluff and Riverton. Cam’s family all enjoyed our visit and loved looking after Brook for us.

Joss’s Dad is recovering well and is very keen to get out and about more.
Catch you all later.

Paint On!

I’ve started the first coat of the top colour on one of the outside walls and it looks good (see colour below, although on my PC you cannot tell how green the colour actually is, so you probably can’t either). The weather is almost perfect painting weather, just a tad bright but hey that is why sunglasses were invented. The good thing was that it was not an early start. I had to wait until 10:30 for the dew to dry off and things to have heated up a bit.

It is amazing the pressure that must go on your knees when you are working off a ladder. I thought my arms or wrists would be sore but it is my right knee that is killing me. My excuse for a wee break over lunch anyway.

This morning I was working on some links to put on our web site. I got carried away looking at all the ones we had on our old site. I don’t think we’ll publish that much stuff again. But it is a shame that I have only three sites to list under friends and families. I have lost a couple over the time so if you have a site, please email us the address (email link at bottom of the page).

What time is it?

It is getting too late for me to carry on updating the site. I have put in a heap more on Brook’s section – the most popular section. Some of the photos are newish. They are new to the web but still over a year out of date. We are planning on getting a new scanner very soon so I’ll soon have not excuses left and will simply have to get some new shots.

Joss and Brook are up in Golden Bay visiting her family. Ross’s hip operation went well and he is recovering very well. Joss has been having a hard time keeping Brook and his cousins all under control. The only problem with them getting on like a house on fire is that the house burns down. Strange saying that one.

I’ve not been slacking around whilst they are away. I have finished the sanding and scraping one of the outside walls and have primed it. So hopefully I’ll be able to get the first top coat on before Joss and Brook return (weather dependant).

Catch you all later,
Cam.

April Fools

Hello All,
I hope no one was made an April Fool today. If your weather was anything like Christchurch’s was today, you’d not be out and about to be fooling around anyway.

The good news is Joss’s Dad’s hip operation today went well. When was initially told about this appointment he thought it was an April Fools joke. He was lucky to have spent only about 6 months on the waiting list. We are guessing Ross will be in hospital for another 5 or 6 days. Then it is a few months forced holiday from farm working. Much deserved too. Joss is thinking she will pop up at some point in the next few weeks to help out and check up on him.

We had a quiet weekend with our first reasonable rainfall for a couple of months. It has got very wintry which we are not keen on. We want to paint at least one side of the outside of the house and Joss is not keen to be stuck inside so early in the year. Brook tried to shift his sand pit inside one handful at a time earlier in the week which gives an indicator what trouble he has been getting into of late.

Anyway, must shoot as I am looking after Brook whist Joss is at netball (indoor luckily but she is in a outdoor team that starts soon and they play Saturday mornings – nice and warm! Brook and I might not make it to every game).
