Tram Crash

We were in a tram crash! Not actually that exciting. Brook and I were on the tram whilst Joss was playing netball and a young guy pulled out right in front of the tram. Naturally his (or his parents) car was worse off. Just a bit of paint on the car. We did not really feel a thing but got a good view of it. How someone cannot see a massive tram coming along is anyone’s guess.

Damn, he is fitter than I

Dunc came and picked up his new bike this weekend. Shame to see it go. But we did get a ride around the forest before it was packed up and shipped off. I had hoped that my local knowledge would have left him in my dust, but Dunc must be fitter than I am as he kept up easily. I will not say the bike had anything to do with it, as I am a believer with the majority of tracks it is the cyclist not the bike.

Great Weekend

What a weekend! 20 friends and family all in Akaroa for the weekend to celebrate Joss and I turning 30 and to have a great time in general.

We had a blast! Everyone enjoyed themselves (and some enjoyed the alcohol a little too much) and we all made the most of the weekend. It was great to catch up with people we had not seen for a long time too. There are a heap of photos, but most are sifty drinking shots that are best not let loose on the internet. The video of Justine and Adam we are giving away though for all those interested.

Going going gone

Dunc is coming to pick up his bike this weekend. It has been very tempting with a new Kona Dawg Primo here. It is a very nice bike. But it is his bike and he should have the first ride on it. And if I started, I would be too tempted to go into the forest… trouble in the making.

But I should get a ride in this weekend when he is here so that will be fun.

Frosty Boy

Christchurch was hit by a decent storm in the weekend and I was thinking perfect time to really check out my new clothes. But when the push came, the fact that every 20 odd minutes we’d get another hail shower with decent size stones put me off going out. But role around back to work and it was a nice cold morning to give them a blast.

And I am impressed. I am very pleased with my buy. When you first walk outside you think these are not that warm (mainly the pants) but 5 mins on the bike and you would not want anything else on. So I am sold (although clearly I was to buy them in the first place).

Gearing up for winter

With winter approaching fast and just having a birthday, I have just put in an order for some winter clothing from Groundeffect. I currently have some summer gear and have been very impressed.

I am going for the Frosty Boy top, Daddy Long Legs pants, a hat, and some gloves. So I will be warm enough biking to work and around the forest.

Will let you know how they wear.

5:30!

Man, what a long weekend. The boys were all up at 5:30am – just a chain reaction, one wakes and that leads to another! So everyone is tired today.
I turn 30 tomorrow – strangely I have not thought about it at all until today. Just another day, and I have no problems getting older, I mean, it is not like you can do anything about it so why bother. But it does seem like a milestone and a time to reflect. So I am going to wait until we have the house to ourselves, kick back with a nice bottle of red wine, and say “Shit, I am 30!, so what?”.

For those of you coming to Akaroa with us, we are looking forward to hanging out then too. Remember to bring a good booze supply.

4 boys

Joss’s sister and her family are here this weekend. Brook is loving having other kids around – although 4 boys running around is load at the best of times, let alone at 6:30am. Still everyone is having a good weekend and we all are getting some time out so that is great.
